Lakers fans are slowly coming to accept the fact that Kobe Bryant is not going to start the season on time and his injury really is serious. A young player would be fortunate to return to playing their sport after an Achilles tendon tear in a few short months and no one is pretending that the iron man of Lakers basketball is a young man anymore.
Lakers trainer Gary Vitti told Mark Medina, Los Angeles Daily News that,
Bryant remains a “few weeks away” before advancing to full-weight bearing running and then basketball-related activities.
Vitti also confirmed earlier stories that Bryant has no projected return date.
Fans everywhere want to see Bryant on a basketball court this season, however, since he still cannot train carrying his own body weight, an early return this season has become wishful thinking at best. The Lakers are not going to allow their superstar franchise player to risk the rest of his career.
Bryant will be return once his rehab is done and he is back in regular season basketball shape. When that date will be is anyone’s guess.
