Pacers Paul George Keeps Blaming The Referees

It might seem surprising that the player who got to the free throw line 12 times in Game Three and has been given free reign to abuse the Raptors All-Star DeMar DeRozan in this series was complaining about the officiating, but for the second postgame news conference in a row, the Pacers All-Star Paul George went on about how the Referees were adversely impacting his game.

As Gregg Doyel of the IndyStar so eloquently put it,

George also had words (definitely) for the referees, blaming them for his technical foul — “It’s the playoffs,” he said. “You’ve got to let some stuff slide” — and for his shooting difficulties (6-of-19).

“A lot of my shots,” George said of Raptors defender DeMarre Carroll, “He was getting away with hitting my elbow, hitting my wrists.”

George is frustrated and lashing out.

George also saw fit to accuse the referees of not letting some stuff slide – you know, as it pertains to him – in Game Two as well.

“The foul Kyle (Lowry) drew on me was a cheap foul,” George said after Game Two. “(The referee) came over and told me he messed up, but it happens.”

Only in the mind of a star NBA player was George’s foul on Lowry cheap or that he doesn’t get the star treatment from the NBA referees. The Pacers have enjoyed a significantly better whistle than Toronto in this series, being tagged with just 66 personal fouls compared to 79 for the Raptors.

George was fined $35,000 in December for public criticism of officials. His current comments are more polite, but no less critical and as NBA Commissioner Adam Silver likes to say, they are gamesmanship. So, where’s the fine?

Stfu PG…more foul calls called on raps than ur team..if anything raptors should complain..
Nba need to put non American refs, I think they are bias against canadian teams. Fuk nba refs. Some games are decided by their calls…smh

No fine for PG? Guy needs to stop crying. Derozan couldn’t buy a foul in the first two games of the series, his bread and butter and did you hear him complain about it? No, because he’s a GD professional.

I find it hard to believe PG is making these comments. The entire Pacers team have been holding and grabbing the Raptors in all three games. I believe it’s part of the reason the Rap lost the first game. But to Casey and his coaching staff’s credit, the team has adjusted and played through the rough stuff and have not been called for three T’s in one game for beaking off to the refs. Keeping that collective mental calm will result in a series win. Thx S. Brotherson for the continued good coverage.
