Earlier on Saturday Shams Charnia of RealGM tweeted that the Toronto Raptors were about to release backup point guard Dwight Buycks prior to his contract becoming guaranteed for next season. Sportando then confirmed their earlier reports that Buycks was close to a deal with Maccabi Electra Tel-Aviv in Israel.
This move by the Raptors was not completely unexpected after Toronto acquired veteran guard Lou Williams from the Hawks and re-signed guard Grievis Vasquez to a new two-year deal.

Not long after news of Buycks departure from the Raptors was out, Eurohoops tweeted Buycks was indeed headed to Maccabi for next season.

Nikos Varlas reports,
“Dwight Buycks is expected to be cut by the Toronto Raptors, however he already knows where he will continue his career. Not only, as reported earlier, Maccabi Tel Aviv is interested on the player, but there are advanced negotiations between him and the Euroleague champions.”
Prior to joining the Raptors last season, Buycks played with Gravelines in the French Pro A League where he won league MVP honors.
